Vitiligo White Patches FAQ
Are there other conditions related to Vitiligo? This is the only one concept about vitiligo that do not differ in the opinion of experts all over the world that vitiligo do not lead to any skin condition it self however, it is believed my many that the auto-immune diseases such as thyroids and adrenal disease is closely related to vitiligo, and have some hand in causing de-pigmentation, but it has not been confirmed yet. Also diseases such as leprosy and oral cancer are mistaken as vitiligo due to the same symptoms (white patches) they share.
Is Vitiligo related to albinism?Albinism is some times misunderstood as white spread of vitiligo or vitiligo vulagrius but it is not so, albinism is the absence of pigment, and is always due to genetic predisposition as vitiligo is suspected to be inherited as well. Also, it is suspected that albinos are deficient of enzyme known as tyrosinase that helps the pigmentary cells (melanocytes) to produce melanin (skin pigment). The researchers for vitiligo cure believe that may be some vitiligo patients are also deficient of tyrosine that result in wode spread of white patches as in universal vitiligo but the theory have not been confirmed yet.
